now that Andrew is almost 8 months old and constantly pulling himself up on things, i decided it would be best if we bought his first pair of shoes so he could get used to them. they’re soft/flexible bottom, and pretty breathable (plus they were cheap yay!)
well he didn’t really care the first time i put them on him, probably because we were outside and he was more worried about the birds flying around, but every time since he starts screaming and if i didn’t know any better i’d say he was throwing a tantrum! after getting them on completely he will calm down but then refuse to move. he won’t crawl, he won’t go to grab anything, and if we pull him up to have him "walk" around he refuses to move his feet.
did anyone else’s LO do this? i’m not sure if i should just return the shoes and just worry about it when he actually starts walking, or if i should make him deal with the shoes for an hour or so a day so that he realizes they’re normal. i just don’t want him to suddenly stop trying to progress himself because i forced the shoes on him.
I didn’t get shoes for DS until he was walking (more than just the first steps). I didn’t bother with anything, including socks, when he was pulling up and standing. He also didn’t actually walk for a few days in the shoes either, he had to get used to them and I remember the guy at the store telling us it’s probably like feeling bricks on your feet lol.
Connor loves shoes, a little too much. I have to put them on before we get out of the car and only use them for outside. If I don’t he will tear them off and chew on them. :/
The shoes also get easier the more they get used to them. When I first bought them it would take 30 minutes to get them on just ONE foot because he would curl his toes real bad. Now he’s getting the gist of shoes=outside and is patient.
