Police Identify Vehicle Involved In Sunday Hit And RunNEW HARTFORD A vehicle matching the description of one that struck and seriously injured a 19 year old man over the weekend has been located, according to police.
Victor Garcia, 19, was walking home from a friend’s house on Route 202 near the Connecticut Valley Winery when he was hit by a truck, police said. He went airborne and landed in the middle of the road.
The truck, which police initially said was a 1990s to early 2000s Ford Expedition or F 150 style pickup truck, fled the scene, police said.
Garcia, who sustained injuries including a broken jaw and broken leg, crawled to the side of the road and phoned 911, police said. He was transported to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital’s intensive care unit and is now in stable condition at Waterbury Hospital, police said.
State police said troopers found evidence at the scene that helped them identify the type of vehicle. The evidence has also been forwarded to the state forensic lab for examination.
The damaged area is the front passenger side headlight assembly, police said. There was also previous damage to the same area, police said.
