1926 The Black Dress Became the Little Black DressIt’s been said by many in the fashion industry that all you need is one little black dress. Why buy more? If you have that one black dress in your closet you can dress it up, dress it down and be whoever you want to be.
When we hear the term Nike Free Run “little black dress” we immediately think of Coco Chanel. Although many did design their own black dresses and even before Chanel designed hers, it is her that comes Nike Free Run to mind when anyone mentions the LBD.
Her version of the little black dress was originally introduced in a very small ad in October 1926 Vogue, yet not many even paid attention to it. It was briefly mentioned again in the Paris edition of Vogue a month later and described as “the uniform for the modern woman”.
The “Smart Woman’s” DressThe little black dress was not warmly embraced by North American women. The American woman was more interested in having fun and dressing in the colorful flapper dresses which were so popular in the late 1920’s. To them, a black dress was boring and something they identified as wearing only to a funeral.
It wasn’t until the mid thirties that women, especially the working woman really discovered the economic benefits of the little black dress. As more and more designers (Nettie Rosenstein, Lanvin) designed their own versions (after copying the French version) the little black dress started appearing in American department stores advertised as “the smart women’s dress”.
La Petite Robe NoirLa Petite Robe Noir is of course the translation of “the little black dress”. Ever so popular, there is even a wonderful perfume by the same name by Guerlain.
Though it’s a perfume ad, this commercial certainly conveys the spunky attitude of the little black dress!
La Petite Robe Noir Perfume (The Little Black Dress) PerfumeIf you love not too sweet but sassy, you’ll love La Petite Robe Noir Perfume. When you first put it on, you can smell a slight licorice scent. When it’s dry, it’s light but sweet with hints of bergamot, amber and berry. If you type a sentence here about why you love this item.
Go from Office to Dinner to Party !Today we may call it a “LBD” for short and may come in many different styles for different shapes and sizes but it is still the 1 must have in every woman’s closet.
There is no dress so versatile, nor any smarter looking than the one black dress. It can go from a day at the office to an evening party. Out with girlfriends for casual shopping trip to yes indeed, even a funeral.
The black dress is always there when you need it, when you’re running late and no matter the occasion, always looking fabulous.
It’s what you wear when you’re not sure what to wear. It never lets you down with it’s ease, versatility and class.

The French Women’s SecretI think most women are still little girls at heart.
We loved dressing our Barbie’s when we were younger and we still enjoying primping and dressing up. It’s something we’ve done all our lives with our friends, sisters, dolls and even pets.
Who hasn’t dressed up their dog and cat at one time? And some of us are still doing it!
Our clothing is an expression of who we are and sometimes who we’d even like to be. If you look at all the coordinates here, each one has it’s own mood or personality achieved through switching only the accessories.
Buying one black dress that flatters you (the simpler the better) and of the highest quality you can afford is a fashion secret French women adhere to. French women believe that although the dress was a ridiculously high price, when they’ve worked it out over time it’s cost them only pennies each time they wear it.

Be As Trendy As You WantSavvy Women Know What to Spend OnA smart woman will spend a lot of money on her wardrobe staples and less money on her accessories which she’ll have more of. Make sense?
What are wardrobe staples?
Wardrobe staples would be defined as a good trench coat, a pair of black pumps, a pair of classic black/brown boots and a good quality handbag. And of course, one black dress.
These are the classic items that you should be prepared to pay more money for as they never go out of style. These wardrobe staples get better with age and if taken care of, can be worn year after year. The only items you’d need to change are your accessories.
What’s good about shopping this way is that you can be as trendy as you want.
If leopard print is in that year, you don’t need to go out and buy leopard print shoes, a coat or a dress which are higher priced items. You can accessorize your current wardrobe staples with a leopard scarf, earrings, belt, stockings and a knock off handbag if you want.
Next year when the trends change, you’re not stuck with outfits that are out of style and left with nothing to wear.
