Rockingham District Attorney Phil Berger Jr. says he’s “thinking about” challenging incumbent Democrat Brad Miller in the 13th congressional district next year. Senate president pro tem. The younger Berger hasn’t run for a legislative office before, though he is vice president elect of the state Conference of District Attorneys and has served as his county’s party chairman.
He said he looked at the proposed district maps on his phone this weekend, called his dad to talk about it. “I bounce a lot of ideas off him,” he added.
The proposed plan to redraw the Air Jordan 6s 13th would change the district’s political landscape, making it very difficult for Miller to hold onto the seat in 2012. Berger said that was a factor in his decision.
“Certainly, it’s a better district for a Republican candidate,” he said. “But this is the first draft of the map.
The younger Berger said he doesn’t have a time frame yet for a decision. “When the dust settles Air Jordan 20s and everything shakes out, we’ll Air Jordan 9s make a decision,” he said. “It’s way early in the process.” County GOP chairman Nathan Tabor has also said he’s interested in running for the new 13th.
