He was arrested Nov. 23 and charged as a juvenile, but will likely be tried as an adult in Lackawanna County Court, Detective James Pappas said Wednesday.The teen had been charged as one of two boys who stole $5,000 in merchandise from Heart and Soul Audio on South Washington Avenue on Oct., 15. On Monday, he was accused of three other crimes, including assaulting a man whose West Side store he allegedly tried to rob.The day before he was apprehended, the 16 year old was nearly cornered at the Sloan Little League, but fled into the woods after noticing undercover police vehicles, Detective Pappas said. City and downvalley police led a manhunt near the Stauffer Industrial Park, but he fled and was later found at a relative’s Meridian Avenue apartment, Detective Pappas said.It was reported then that the juvenile might be armed, but he did not have a weapon when caught.He is also accused of an Aug. 8 burglary of a Shell gas station at 350 Railroad Ave., as he allegedly pried open a back door, taking cash and cartons of cigarettes. On Oct. 17, he was allegedly among three juveniles who burglarized the cell phone store Digital Signal. The other two teens have been arrested and charged, police said.
